The entire scientific program of the conference will be held in a new building of the University of L’Aquila, housing the Department of Human Sciences and located in the historic city center. The main conference will be hosted in the Aula Magna of the building, which can host up to 220 people and is fully equipped to hold large presentations and discussion forums. Satellite events will be hosted in seminar rooms of the same building.
» Getting to L’Aquila
L’Aquila is the capital city of the Abruzzo region, in Central Italy. It does not have an own international airport, but it is easily accessible from abroad by flying either to Rome or to Pescara and then taking a bus. The three closest international airports are:
L’Aquila can be reached via bus in approx. 2 hours from each of them. The average cost of commuting from the airports to L’Aquila is about 15€ (one way) and the average frequency of runs is about 1 per 1.5 hour (from approx. 09:00 to approx. 24:00).
Flying to Rome
Both Rome International Airports (FCO, CIA) feature a direct bus connection to L’Aquila, with the same bus starting from Fiumicino, going through Ciampino, and reaching L’Aquila. Flying to Pescara
From Abruzzo Airport (Pescara) there is no direct connection to L’Aquila. From the airport it is necessary to commute to Pescara-P.le Repubblica (in the city). Busses to L’Aquila leave from there approx. every hour (average duration 01:30), with first and last busses leaving at 05:55 and19:30, respectively. By Bus from Rome (city)
If you are in Rome, you have several bus lines travelling daily to L’Aquila with a frequency of approx. 1 bus per hour from Tiburtina Bus Station. The main lines are:
The city center is plenty of small original restaurants, pizzerias, and pubs in a walking distance from the conference venue.
Food offer is variegated and spans from local specialities (mainly based on meat, saffron, and lentils) and fresh fish (coming everyday from the shore), to general Italian and Mediterranean dishes. The Abruzzo region is also a very good wine production area, offering delicious red (e.g., Montepulciano), rosè (e.g., Cerasuolo), and white (e.g., Trebbiano) wines.
