The shortlist for the best paper award has been announced. These three papers were selected based on their reviews. For the final selection of the winner, the paper presentation at COSIT itself will play a key role. The shortlisted papers are:

- Muralikrishna Sridhar, Anthony G Cohn and David C Hogg, "From Video to RCC8: Exploiting a Distance Based Semantics to Stabilise the Interpretation of Mereotopological Relations"
- Daniel R. Montello and Danqing Xiao, “Linguistic and Cultural Universality of the Concept of Sense-of-Direction”
