GETTING TO COSIT'01

===================================================================

The conference will be held at the Inn at Morro Bay in the Pacific coast town of Morro Bay, California, USA. The town is situated along the Central California coast, about 15 miles west of San Luis Obispo on the scenic coastal Highway 1. Morro Bay is located roughly halfway between Los Angeles to the south and San Francisco to the north, about 200 miles from either city.

Accommodation will be available at the Inn at Morro Bay, the site of the conference. Additional accommodation will be available at other hotels in the town of Morro Bay, about 1 mile from the conference site. Please access Accomodations for rates and reservation information.  For those who do not wish to walk to the Inn, a shuttle van will operate, and bicycle rentals are available. The Inn is located on Morro Bay Lagoon, inside the boundaries of Morro Bay State Park. The site offers excellent hiking, boating, surfing, fishing, and golf, and includes an Audubon Society "Globally Important Bird Area" that always ranks in the top ten in the United States during the annual Christmas Bird Count (200 or more species logged each year). The town of Morro Bay is charming and picturesque, with antique shops, restaurants, and a beautiful harbor. It is situated in Central California, with trips to Big Sur, Monterey, Santa Barbara, L.A., San Francisco, the Sierra Nevada, numerous wine-producing districts, and more within half-day drives (see Morro Bay web page).

A van shuttle will be operated between the airport at San Luis Obispo (SLO) and the town of Morro Bay. SLO airport has numerous connections with LAX and San Francisco airports. In addition, Morro Bay can be reached by automobile from LAX by taking Highway 405 north to Highway 101, then north to SLO, then to Morro Bay on Highway 1. From San Francisco, take Highway 101 south to SLO, then to Morro Bay on Highway 1. Alternatively, with a couple more hours and a desire for a fantastic scenic drive, drive to Highway 1 directly from the SF airport, and drive down the Central Coast to Morro Bay. Additional options, such as trains, are described on the Morro Bay web page.
