We have chosen a special kind of Get Together for COSIT 2019: A guided tour through the oldest brewery in town, the Spital Brewery. It was first mentioned in official documents in 1226 and beer has been brewed there ever since. In recent years they have gained increased public interest through quite a few new varieties of beer, e.g. called “Chocolate Stout”. So be excited about the beer tasting included in the tour! Right after the tour, we can have a nice chat over some more beer (2 of these or 2 non-alcoholic beverages will be on us) and/or decent Bavarian food (on your own) at their restaurant.
We’ll meet for the brewery tour at 6:30pm right next to the snack bar called “Historische Wurstkuchl” which has been serving snag sizzles for 850 years now. You can catch bus lines 11, 1, 2, 4 and hop off at one of the stops “Thundorferstraße” or “Fischmarkt” or you go on a short walk through the lovely Old Town of Regensburg which was appointed Unesco Cultural World Heritage in 2006. We kindly ask you to make sure to be on time, as the guided tour will start at 7:00 pm and we still need to cross the world-renowned Stone Bridge of Regensburg.

The first day of the main conference will end with the poster session – which will seamlessly change into a poster reception onsite: After fruitful discussions in front of the posters we can continue the discussions whilst having dinner at the conference venue. A local butcher will cook bullock sirloins and “Bröslschmarrn” (a dish based on potatoes) for the Vegans right in front of the conference buildings. We have also arranged Jazz music played by the UJO Jazz Combo, a band formed by members of the University of Regensburg.
As the poster session starts at 5:30pm the dinner will be ready onsite at 7pm.
The conference dinner will be held at the “Gaststätte Röhrl”, a Bavarian restaurant listed in the Guinness World Records for having been owned and run by the Röhrl family since 1658. The Röhrl family will serve us great Bavarian food with a modern twist. The dinner will start at 7:30pm. One bus back to Regensburg Central Station will leave at 11:45pm. For those who would like to leave earlier we have arranged an additional bus leaving the dinner site at 11pm, which means it will arrive back in town at roughly 11:20pm.
Important information for those who do not want join the excursion:
Busses to the conference dinner site will leave at 7 pm from the square in front of Regensburg Central Station as the dinner will start at 7:30pm. Watch out for student helpers wearing COSIT T-Shirts to recognize the exact spot.

We will continue to celebrate the 25thanniversary of COSIT 2019 with a special type of Bavarian breakfast called “Weißwurstfrühstück” (literally: white sausage breakfast). For those of you who are on a vegan diet we will serve a homemade vegan variety of a Bavarian spread called “Obatzda” (this is originally a vegetarian Bavarian cheese delicacy served with bretzels or bread, but we found a delicious recipe to make it vegan). Both, the sausages and the spread are traditionally served with “Weißbier” (wheat beer).
The breakfast will be served right after the keynote session, from 10:30 until noon.
